The membrane allows the passage of water molecules but blocks most dissolved solutes (such as salts, bacteria and other impurities).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Pure water passes through the membrane, while <\/span><b>contaminants are<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> retained and subsequently <\/span><b>removed<\/b> <b>as wastewater<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.
